Body Panels

I started the long process of skinning my doors and hood. I want to remount them as panels with quick release fasteners. The hood will go on with Autofab's poly hood pins kit. Good looking and tough. So the hood is complete. Josh and I peeled it away from its support. I had to remove all the dynamat first to get a sawzaw under the supports.

I haven't taken a picture of the skin removed, but its done. I think I'm going with stamped louvers for that classic look.

Now this weekend on to the doors. So I already gutted them and removed the glass. I also removed the logo and the black strip installed by the factory to prevent door dings. It hides the Cherokee's beautiful body lines.

Josh and I have been doing alot of work on the Cherokee recently. This is the list of what we have completed or what will be done in the very near future.

-Picked through factory wire harness removing ALL unnecessary clips and wire.
-Moved batteries to rear cargo area.
-Rebuilt custom air intake.
-Moved breathers for front axle, t.c., transmission.
-Removed useless air conditioning compressor.
-Removed quarter panel glass
-Mounted MSD box inside.
-Re-wire all electrics.
-6pt. interior cage.
-Install Novak adapters 231 linkage.

I'm sure I forgot some things. Here are a few pictures of what has been done so far.

No one here gets out alive

With warmer temperatures come more seat time. Time behind the wheel. Puddles begin to dry and the trails tighten up with the new growth of the year. Spider webs cross the trails and at 45 mph it's difficult if not impossible to dodge them. Downed trees everywhere from recent wind storms. But this year it's different. I'm ready. I've found my niche', better yet it found me. Lightened up the Cherok-beast in more ways than one. So then I guess it begins now. Yeah yeah, I like rocks, flexing your arms like a T-rex. Then you chunk again and again. But RzD is what I do. So I do what I do. Search for those lines between the trees.

This weekend Josh and I are PERSONALLY invited for like the ump-teeth time to Gray ORV for a ride. Not an open ride, a private ride, but we the private-kind-of-people. Except this time we get to ride through the mine roads. Hmm. I meant this time we get to cause all kind of hell across 2800 acres of offroad racing roads. Extremely fast through trees close enough to reach in and grab you. Down hills steeper than you've ever experienced. Through creeks, rivers and on top roads sliding sideways at 50mph. Mind blowing, adrenaline pumping, hyper focusing driving. Lets hope we make it out alive.

My New Favorite Television Show

Direct TV Channel 101

The Trailer Park Boys. Too funny! Commercial Free. Holy crap is it funny! Definitely an adult show. I love how Julian (the black haired guy) always has a drink in his hand.

Let it snow..

It's been a long time since I've seen snow, many many years. Today I rolled out of bed and into my Jeep to check out the gift Mother Nature gave us. Sarah drove over and we went riding for a couple of hours. TOO MUCH FUN!!!

Horse Pens Pics

I bouldered at HP40 yesterday. It felt unreal. 20% humidity meant the slopers felt like velcro. No one was there, except "The Wizard". haha You know who you are! Never a moment goes by that I'm not psyched to be around "The Wizard". Remember what Tina said!

Anyway here are a couple pano pics of the area. Enjoy!!

Sneak Peak

I got a sneak peak of the layout for FA Rocks. Subject to change, but I would assume this is how things will look.

King of the Hammers 2009

Well I won't be attending this race, our trip has been cancelled. I'm quite disappointed. Anyway here are some more pictures of local Adam Carter's race car. The race is a combination of rock crawling and desert racing over Johnson Valley, Ca. I got an opportunity to take some pics today while Adam was doing some last minute adjustments at the ORC. He leaves this Friday. Go Adam! I hope you do well!

Stix Sushi

I ate at Stix tonight. I had some take out sushi. Pictured here is the Yummy Roll. Flashed fried sushi, kinda good. I didn't eat sushi until I moved to the south. I'm a pretty picky eater. Thanks Adam for breaking down that "wall".

FA Rocks!!

Yes, the rumor has been confirmed. There will be an indoor bouldering facility located in Birmingham owned and operated by local climbers. By local climbers I don't mean some sort of co-op. I'm talking about two people, both of which will remain nameless at this point, but eventually you'll find out.

Today I had the opportunity to visit the location. GET PSYCHED! 7000 sq.ft. The rumor has it that there will be 3 free standing boulders and one top rope area. There will also be a yoga room and training room stuffed with campus boards, hit strips, and Ben Moon's training system. The floor will be padded all around the boulders. I saw a 360 degree rendition on Mac's Sketchpad of the finished product, very very cool!

Stop by the Moss Rock Bouldering Competition this weekend to get the lowdown from the actual owners!!

Anyway, I will continue to post pictures of the progress, but here is your first.

GAME OVER

This is an older shot. Video capture. It is of myself, Jeff and Adam. Adam is looking over what will be the assumed FA of the Heart Wall Arete, namely "Game Over". I have all of this on video and will post it one day.

Well Ben got his ascent of the "choking" style traverse. Raja, pictured here, will no doubt grab the next. He is super close. Go Roger!!

Cool shot I thought looked like a painting of sorts. Look at Bens dog's eyes. Evil!!

Some Crazy Panoramic Shots

Okay so I know the quality of the pics leave alot to be desired, but the ability to stitch 8 shots together in less than 5 seconds and produce these kinda of images. Hmmmm..

Misc Pics.

Sam Gillis' Overkill Chasis

This recently took 1st Place at the World of Wheels in Birmingham. I don't know what catagory but probably the offroad. haha It has an amazing handbuilt dash from Keith Bailey and Wayne Howze at ORC. I'll post some pics of that later.

Climbing is Fun

I got sucked into a really good traverse at Shades Crest today. Jeff, Roger, Ben- we all just kinda hung out by the cave today. Well anyway, I love the moves on this thing. One really BIG rose move. After that it's pretty chill. I'm psyched to get back on this thing. Tomorrow it's gonna rain, so that sucks. But Thursday I'm going back out and Sarah said she may come too! Anyway check out Jeff's page (link to the right) and see the AMAZING pics he took today!!!

Also the rumor around the boulders is that a new gym is going to be opening up. Hmmm...possibly named FA Rocks. More news when I hear it. But I'm extremely psyched!!

Climbing at HP40 tomorrow

I'm psyched to get up there, even if it will be 70 degrees HOT. I want to repeat alot and continue bouldering consistently until I pick up a rope again. So off to HP tommorrow. I think Jeff is coming, always good psych there. I'll post some pics tommorrow.

Gray Rock Carnage

We rode at Gray Rock today. Tons of carnage.
-Cliff and his new TJ-Broke output shaft on his transfer case.
-His buddies in their Cherokee-Broke trac bar mount.
-Me in my XJ-something messed up with the yoke on the front axle.

I'll post pics tomorrow.

Best Team In Football PERIOD.

So the Steelers won an unprecedented 6th Super Bowl Title. Take that New England! Take that Dallas! Youngest coach to ever win as well!! I could go down the list of stats that represent the Steelers as the best team that ever played the game but I won't, you can just look them up yourself. So I'll just say this...Steelers rule the gridiron. Not your team. Sorry.

Great Commercial

My favorite part is "Charles in Charge". They couldn't have casted anyone better to play that guy's part.

Adam Carter's 2009 King of the Hammers Race Car

Look out! This thing is a beast! Adam will be racing the Last Chance Qualifier on Thursday, the day before the big race. Hopefully everything will work correctly and he will be in the BIG show on Friday. I guarantee one thing, no one in the state of Alabama has one of these things. 460hp?! 40" tires! Super light and an amazing low center of gravity. One of the first pictures I have taken with my new 5mp camera on the Omnia.

Seafoam

Josh and I took my Cherokee out to the powerlines to use Seafoam today. You pour it in the intake, crankcase, and fuel tank and it cleans out everything. The only bi-product is thick white smoke. But it was really windy today so it wasn't that bad. Anyway I'm changing the oil now and getting it ready for the next round of racing.

My new smartphone-The Samsung Omnia

It's pretty complicated. I'm on week two and I just finally got my email correctly setup. Not that it took me that long. It boasts a 5 megapixel camera with tons of options. It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 along with pocket versions of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Opera Mobile for cruzin' the net. It even has a FM Radio. Music, video, pictures...all the essentials. 16gb memory. Just enough to tease you. I wouldn't call it the iphone killa, but it sure is close.

The Damn Waterworks Trails!!

We went riding today. Josh and I in my Jeep. Adam in his new KOH '09 race car. Keith and Sam in the Bruiser. Mike and his son in his new HO Razr. Ron and his son in his new Wide Open Design creation. Tommy, Josh and Casey in Josh's Jeep. We hit the waterworks trails after meeting at Keith's house. Adam showed up and I got some really good pictures of his car. I even got to sit in it. haha When we hit the trails Keith and Adam were too fast for me, they got ahead and we missed all the good stuff. Keith rolled on Ebola 1. Adam broke ANOTHER Yukon 3rd member. I guess that new GTO V8 is gonna find a weak spot somewhere in his drivetrain. At least he is starting his shakedown now, rather than a week before the race. He had to take off and rode out early. Now let me just say this..I don't like the Waterworks trails. Maybe I never got a proper introduction, maybe I just don't feel like I'm warming up when you drive down "Logjammer" immediately off the road. Either way something didn't feel right and my attitude showed it. Josh as usual was patient and always trying to help me. Super STAND up guy! I really want to be good at this but it's hard. Maybe not hard in the way bench pressing a tank is hard, but difficult to explain. I guess when your going down a hill and your front tire drops into a hole, which in turn lifts your rear tire 3ft. off the ground is best explanation of my fears. Hard to get used to.

After we left Josh and I took the Tressel trails home. Down the waterlines, up Possom Path, out the train tracks until we hit Shades Grove Rd. Then we ran the powerlines homes at usual speed. I guess this is where my talent, if any, is shown. Picking lines at faster speeds, drifting the rear end..

Nice Ride. I think I'll go back to the Waterworks Trails again right away. I don't want to give up on them yet.

Old Youtube Appearance

Listen to the end when Adam is hosting the competition. Traylor ends up elbowing a girl for a rope and a rare appearance by Cooper Roberts eating popcorn. God I miss the old days!!
